The Kloovenburg wine farm is situated in the Swartland wine region and has a unique soil composition for the area it is situated in. The wine maker takes a more traditional boutique style approach to making the wine. All the grapes are skillfully grown and harvested by hand at the Kloovenburg estate. The wines are produced in the most natural way possible, which gives the estate wines a unique flavour profile. Where applicable, wines are aged in French oak barrels.
Kloovenburg Merlot : Aromas of sweet berry, fruitcake and black fruit flavours with oak spice. The palate is medium to full bodied with well – structured tannins. Pairs well with Italian dishes, especially tomato-based ones, grilled chicken and Charcuterie, e.g. pates, terrines and salamis.
Eight Feet Red : Aromas of red berries, hint of perfume, dark fruit, black olive and spice. The palate is medium full bodied, good structure with soft and silky tannins. Pairs well with grilled and roast beef, stew, mildly spicy foods and game.
Kloovenburg Shiraz Aromas of intense black and red fruit with hints of violets and gentle spice. The palate is medium full bodied, good structure with soft and silky tannins. Pairs well with leaner red meat, stew and mildly spicy foods.
Carignan : Aromas of red berries, fynbos and spice. The palate is medium bodied with juicy tannins and fresh acidity. Pairs well with richer poultry dishes, roasted pork, chicken and beef brisket.
Riebeekberg/ Syrah : Dark purple with aromas of blackberry, clove, flowers and fynbos
Cape Vintage : Ruby colour with a slight tawny rim. Made from Shiraz grapes, Showing ripe berry fruit, Christmas cake, plum and spice flavours.
Grenache Noir : Aromas of dark cherries, pomegranate and dried herbs, The palate is medium bodied, shows good structure and fruit purity. Pairs well with leaner meats dishes like lamb, venison and turkey. Poached salmon, braised duck breast or pork roast with mushrooms and vegetables.
Eight Feet White Blend : Aromas of white flowers, citrus and spice. The palate is rich, textured with a balanced acidity. Pairs well with chicken, pork, creamy pastas, salmon or grilled fish.
Brut Glanc De Noir Shiraz : Ripe aromas of strawberry and cherry. The palate is rich, textured with cranberry, candy floss with a well balanced acidity.
Unwooded Chardonnay : Aromas of pineapple, banana and tropical flavours, the palate is fresh and creamy with a balanced acidity. Pairs well with salmon, chicken, pork or pasta in creamy sauce.
Sauvignon Blanc : Aromas of fresh tropical fruit, gooseberry and hints of asparagus. The palate is medium bodied with a crisp acidity. Pairs well with seafood with Asian flavours such as lime, pea soups, grilled chicken or lamb.
Chardonnay Barrel fermented : Layers of grapefruit, pineapple and lemon. The palate shows banana, lime and citrus, with a creamy textured finish. Pairs well with chicken, pork creamy pastas, salmon or grilled fish
