THE ESTATE
The PaardenKloof brand is one of dedication, detail and hard work, with a passion for our vineyards and the estate in general. PaardenKloof offers premium matured Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc wines, with new plantings of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc to follow.
DISCOVER OUR HISTORY
PaardenKloof Estate currently utilizes 23 hectares of its 1430 hectares of farmland for vineyards and will increase this with a further 5 hectares of new plantings in 2019. We have chosen to limit our harvest to between six and eight tons per hectare to intensify flavours and terroir expressive aromas in the small grape berries. This structure has worked well for us, as our grape varietals were specifically chosen for their suitability to our terroir (terroir meaning the unique, natural features of the land, including climate, soil type, as well as farming practices, that create the ideal conditions for a certain grape variety).
Our cellar stock, which includes limited edition, single vineyard varietals of premium matured Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc wines, bear testimony to the fact that the vineyards lie at the heart of our farming operations. Dedication, research and care led to our ultra-premium quality, slow-matured vintages making their grand debut in 2013 with the release of PaardenKloof Die Lang Pad Shiraz 2008.
HARVEST
We are also one of the first South African black-owned wine estates to establish its own vineyards from new plantings. Our award- winning viticulturist Kevin Watt and our winemakers ensure that our wines remain handcrafted and exclusive.
